Eugene River Bike Path

Shoot Date: 1-28-2011

On the east end of our street, I'm headed up the hill to the peak where you can see the river, then down to the bike path below.  You can barely see it, but the large tree at right has licorice ferns growing on some of its lower branches.

Looking up into the bare branches of an oak tree overhead.  Riding a recumbent trike makes it easy to look up into trees, and to watch birds flying past you overhead.

A family walks along the bike path.  Actually, there were a lot of people out enjoying the blue skies.  When the sun shines in the winter--generally a rare occasion--people in Oregon know to take advantage.  The river is just off to the right of this  picture.

The trike parked near the Heron Ponds.  You can see that the water level in the river is high, lapping close to the path.  On the far side, houses soak up the thin afternoon warmth.

At the Heron Ponds, just off to the side of the river, people gather to chat and to watch the Canada geese who winter here and raise their goslings in the spring.
